Thanks! I was wondering where to go this week. Does anyone know if you can freeze ricotta cheese? BOGOF at harmons.

Ok just so you know Smiths sometimes gets an overabundance of milk and they will mark it down to 50 cents but it usually is Skim. Dave hates Skim but for 50 cents he will drink it.
No you can not freeze it. Well you can but it does not have the same consistancy as before. Tried it!!!

My sister freezes milk all the time and hasn't had a problem. She pulls out one to thaw a day or so before she thinks she'll need it. Of course, she is notoriously not concerned with taste in her food (apologies to my sister). I tried freezing milk and it wasn't too too bad if you can stand to wait for it to thaw entirely (which I never could). I now just freeze milk if we have a gallon in the fridge that would go bad while we are on vacation.

PS I meant to say, I never could do consistently. I actually did let it thaw entirely once (so I do have an ounce of credibility when I say that it's ok when thawed entirely).

Maybe it depends on the type of milk you're freezing? My mom used to do it all the time while I was growing up and I never noticed a difference. I'd do it if there was a sale and I wanted to stock up!
